AinaBazaar Gem Lab implements Nveloop GLMS software

The first gem laboratory in Afghanistan to move to cloud-based testing and reporting, with QR-verifiable certificates issued from day one.

AinaBazaar Gem Lab has become the first gemological laboratory in Afghanistan to move gem testing and certificate issuance onto cloud-based software, implementing Nveloop's Gem Lab Management System.

Afghanistan sits on some of the finest coloured stone deposits in the world — Panjshir emerald, Badakhshan lapis lazuli, Kunar tourmaline and Jegdalek ruby among them — and the country's material has been traded internationally for millennia. What has been harder to establish is the documentation layer that international buyers now expect as standard.

The problem a young laboratory faces

The testing was never the constraint. AinaBazaar's gemologists were producing sound conclusions; the difficulty was everything around them. Report numbering lived in notebooks. Finding a report issued eight months earlier meant knowing roughly when it was issued. And a buyer overseas holding one of the laboratory's reports had no way to check it without contacting the laboratory directly — which is exactly the friction that stops a report from adding value to a stone.

What changed

  • Cloud-based issuance. Reports are generated in the software and printed directly, in laboratory-standard formats, on paper and PVC.
  • QR verification. Every report carries a code resolving to an online verification page, so any buyer, anywhere, can authenticate a report themselves in seconds.
  • A searchable archive. Every report the laboratory has issued is retrievable by number, by customer, by date or by stone.
  • Faster entry. Preset data feeds mean routine conclusions are selected rather than typed, keeping gemologists at the microscope.
Before Nveloop our certificate numbers lived in three notebooks and one spreadsheet. Now a buyer in Dubai scans the QR code and the report comes up in a second. That alone changed how people treat our reports.

Why verification matters more than format

Laboratories spend a great deal of thought on how a report looks. It matters less than whether it can be checked. A report that cannot be independently verified protects nobody: not the buyer, who has to take it on faith, and not the laboratory, whose name can be attached to documents it never issued.

Verification closes both gaps at once. It also does something more commercially useful — it lets a stone carry its credibility with it into a market where the laboratory has no reputation yet.

A pattern we keep seeing

AinaBazaar is one of several laboratories that have implemented GLMS in the last two years, alongside Tej Gem Testing Lab and London Gem Lab in Sri Lanka. The pattern is consistent: laboratories are not primarily buying software to work faster. They are buying a way to make their conclusions travel intact.
